New Construction Design Assistance: Public & Private Sectors
SEDAC offers design assistance during the pre-construction phase of a new construction project. These services are offered for any project in Illinois over 15,000 square feet, either public or private. Projects can be either new construction or additions or remodels of existing buildings.
Services Offered:
- Provide target data for maximum energy efficiency, such as R-values and equipment efficiencies
- Meet with the design team to discuss energy strategies
- Review and critique design drawings for optimizing energy efficiency
- Review construction documents and specifications
- Provide information on the most appropriate incentives and grants available for your project
New Construction Incentives: Public Sector
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is offering financial incentives to facilitate implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency improvements for new construction or major renovation projects undertaken by public sector customers in ComEd and Ameren Illinois service territories.
This program provides grants to public sector entities to encourage applicants to design new or rehabbed buildings that achieve the greatest level of energy efficiency. SEDAC (on behalf of DCEO) reviews new construction projects for incentive eligibility and program compliance.
New Construction Incentives: Private Sector
Energy efficiency incentives for the private sector are available to customers of ComEd (electric) through the Smart Ideas program, Ameren Illinois (gas and electric) through the ActOnEnergy program, Nicor Gas, North Shore Gas, or Peoples Gas.
- Ameren Illinois: Apply for prescriptive or custom incentives based on beyond code design
- ComEd Smart Ideas:
- Large buildings can take advantage of whole building energy modeling and incentives.
- Midsize and small buildings can take advantage of prescriptive incentives.
- Gas incentives may also be available from your local delivery company
- Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy
- North Shore Gas
- Nicor Gas
- Peoples Gas
