VERIFYING ENERGY SAVINGS

Have you ever wondered how the experts verify energy efficiency savings? The SEDAC team took a look at past Design Assistance client Rock River Tower to see just how much an investment in high efficiency windows had impacted their energy usage and costs.

Verifying energy savings requires more than simply comparing before and after numbers. It requires normalizing the data based on weather and considering other factors such as building usage and occupancy.

See the results and methodology by reading the full story.

The web link below provides past charts to compare. These charts pack a lot of info and are helpful in seeing our energy efficiency efforts as part of the wider system of US energy generation and usage.

SPOTLIGHT: MEYER DRAPERY

Meyer Drapery, a small business in Champaign, IL recently took advantage of Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy Small Business Program. The Program helps small businesses to implement energy efficiency projects through targeted rebates.

ActOnEnergy paid for more than half of the project costs to retrofit T12 and fluorescent lighting across the facility. Owner David Meyer saw a 40% drop in electricity use after the lighting retrofit and mentioned, "I'm a real fan of the program -it worked out great for us!"
