2021 IECC: Submitted Questions & Answers

The SEDAC energy code technical assistance hotline receives 2 – 5 questions a week from code officials, architects, and contractors across Illinois. In this course, SEDAC will review asked questions with broad applicability to the IECC community. Your questions, such as “How much insulation do I need to install on my existing roof?” and “Does adding a fireplace to a sunroom or screened porch trigger energy code insulation requirements?” will be presented along with the answers and the methodology used to arrive at the answers provided. We will also discuss any differences or similarities between the 2021 IECC and the code that was applicable when the question was received.
