A Sustainable Path Forward: Reducing Hazardous Solvents & Pollution at your Surface Finishing Facility

Did you know that the EPA is proposing to ban the solvent TCE in most industrial and consumer products that would rapidly phase down TCE for all uses within one year of the rule’s implementation? Now is the time to explore how your surface finishing operation can reduce and eliminate TCE-based solvents before the rule is in place.
In this workshop, we will cover options for TCE replacement, such as water-based solvents and technologies that can be used. We will also cover other pollution-reducing options for surface finishing facilities, such as managing air quality, energy management best practices, and water conservation options for coating processes.
Join us to explore opportunities to reduce costs, increase operational efficiency, and reduce pollution at surface finishing facilities!  Attendees will:
  • Understand options that can be used to replace TCE in your plant’s solvents.
  • Learn key tips to reduce pollution and increase operational efficiency.
  • Identify funding sources to support sustainable changes that reduce pollution.
  • Connect to programs and individuals that can support your sustainability journey, such as the Cook County BRITE program.
Workshop speakers include:
  • Cassie Carroll, Program Director at the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC) at the University of Illinois
  • Max Ciarlone, Businesses Reducing Impact on the Environment (BRITE) Program at the Cook County Department of Environment and Sustainability
