Be recognized for your environmental achievements!
SEDAC is recruiting businesses of all sizes and organizations (public sector, NPOs, etc.) to participate in the Illinois Green Business Certification Program. Becoming a green business is easy – there are three key steps to being certified: Assess performance, implement your custom action plan and confirm progress. Businesses who participate in the program reduce operating costs, attract new customers, reduce environmental impact, engage employees and are able to promote themselves as an environmental leader in their community.
As part of the green business certification process, SEDAC will help participants measure their impact on the environment and take steps to reduce that impact, providing support to help organizations reach program recognition. If you’re interested in participating, contact us. We look forward to supporting you in your sustainability journey!
Environmental data collection and tracking
In 2019, SEDAC began a project to increase data quality and streamline the process of collecting and tracking business environmental data, funded by the U.S. EPA Exchange Network Grant Program.
Green business programs across the U.S. are collecting and tracking business environmental data, but there are major opportunities to modernize data collection metrics and increase the quality of data collected, analyzed, and shared. SEDAC, in partnership with the Illinois Green Business Association and the California Green Business Network, is working to expand existing data collection, analysis, and sharing capabilities.
Green Business Baseline
Find out how your business stacks up! Get your Green Business Baseline and get to know the environmental performance of your business. Discover opportunities to reduce your costs while becoming more sustainable. Included in your Green Business Baseline, you’ll receive a simplified climate impact report, an analysis of your energy and water consumption trends, customized recommendations and resources for your business, and recognition for your green practices.
The process is simple - an Illinois Green Business Program team member will be with you every step of the way. We will ask you some questions about your business and help track down utility data to complete the climate impact report. Then, we will walk you through the results and help identify which solutions will best help your business reduce costs and climate impact.
