Energy Code Training

 

1,365 individuals participated in SEDAC's Energy Code Training Program by attending a workshop, presentation, or webinar, or by taking one of our online courses. An additional 222 individuals received individualized guidance through our call center. Learn more about our energy code training program.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Energy Efficiency

 

SEDAC completed energy assessment for 20 wastewater treatment plants, identifying opportunities to save 4.5 M kWh and 38,000 therms annually, an energy cost saving of $413,000. Implemented savings resulted in 1.1 M kWh and a cost savings of $129,000. Learn more about this program.

Energy Efficiency Services

SEDAC provided energy assessments and RCx services to facilities in Ameren Illinois territory. On behalf of the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program, we launched a new offering with partner 360 Energy Group for public facilities in distressed communities, and we continued to provide outreach services to guide facilities in becoming more energy efficient. Solar Feasibility Studies

 

SEDAC explored the feasibility of developing solar on state lands on behalf of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and developed a tool to rapidly pre-screen lands for solar energy generation potential. The tool can be applied to any geographical area. We’re also helping state entities develop net zero energy plans. Read more.

Energy Efficiency Research

On behalf of ComEd, SEDAC conducted research to uncover barriers and solutions to energy efficiency among Public Housing Authorities. SEDAC also began a study to explore energy efficiency workforce needs in Illinois, on behalf of the Ameren Illinois Market Development Initiative. Our research efforts began with a review of literature and best practices, and will continue in 2020 with stakeholder outreach. Learn more

30 students from the University of Illinois gained a foundation in energy efficiency and climate action planning through SEDAC internships and a SEDAC-supported course. Many of our graduates are now employed in the energy efficiency industry worldwide. Learn more.

Collecting and Expanding Business Environmental Data

In 2019, SEDAC began a project to streamline the process of collecting and tracking business environmental data, funded by the National Environmental Information Exchange Network Grant Program. The project will modernize and expand access to the GreenBizTracker system and automate and expand data sharing. Learn more.
